Personal Statement
My name is Shaylan Whatman, I am from NSW Australia and I completed year 12 (senior year) at Caroline Chisholm College November 2018.
I have recently graduated from Pensacola State College 2021 with a 4.0 GPA. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to begin a degree in the American collegiate system, while also competitively participating in the sport of Softball. I am now looking to transfer to a 4 year school to continue to study and play .
I play 3rd base and catcher and I have represented the state of NSW in every team selected for my age group since the age of 11. I have also represented Australia at the Junior World Cup 2019.
Over recent years my softball experience has involved representing my association, region, state and I also played in the Australian Friendship Series for two years. In 2017 I won the best batter award at both the Australian u17 Womens National Championships and the Australian friendship Series. At these competitions I was also named in the All Tournament Teams as 3rd base and Designated Hitter.
Despite the dedication shown towards my softball, I also value the importance of my education and always seek out opportunities to further develop my learning, in order to maintain an A/B grade average. With training up to 5 days a week, keeping school work up to date and working a casual job at McDonalds, I have learnt to manage my time well.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile, I hope to hear from you soon.
