Personal Statement

I have already started planning my future career. In the process of creating my plan, I have realized that college is a very important necessity for me to be successful in my chosen career path. I have learned that it is important to prepare for success. Hard work, discipline, and proper preparation are the keys I use to achieve my goals, whether it be academic or athletic. Pitching has brought me many opportunities, such as meeting new people, traveling to new places, and giving me the confidence and leadership to become the best person I can be. Softball is my passion, second only to my career goal. I know that pitching is a lot of individual time and effort, but that is the price a pitcher has to pay to support the team. I am looking forward to taking on the challenges of a college pitcher.

Training

  • Break Threw Fastpitch
  • 3 years
  • I have been training with Break Through Fast Pitch for the last year. Before that I was trained by my coach/dad, grandfather, and Laurie Gowdy, who used to pitch at Simpson and gave pitching lessons afterwards. I started becoming serious about pitching when I was in the fourth grade. At that point I started doing workouts with wrist snap drills, elbow throw drills, shoulder drills, stepping drills, leg drills, and speed drills. I got to the point where I wanted to take my game to the next level and Laurie didn't have the time, so I decided to switch instructors. That's when I went to Break Threw Fastpitch. The next three years I have continued to improve my regular speed, my spin speed, improve on my locations, and learned the curve ball.
