Hello my name is Madison Brooke Martin. I am a junior from Carlisle County in a small town called Fancy Farm, KY. I work very hard in the classroom and I currently have a 4.0 GPA. I have played competitive sports for as long as I can remember. I am a former gymnast and I used to cheer competitively before I decided to try softball. My mom played Division 1 basketball in college, and I hope to be a able to carry on the tradition of playing ball at the next level as well.
I play softball for two teams, my high-school varsity team and Kentucky Magic travel team. I led my high school team in all stat categories for two years in a row. I was named all purchase, all district, all A team and all region for the last two years. This past year I was recognized by my coach for breaking a school record, and listed in the top twenty all state records for highest batting average at .586! During the summer and fall we play in very elite and competitive showcase tournaments and I was able to bat against some very good pitching. I have worked so hard on my game and have used my strength and speed to really become a better all around player. I am a right handed person but my travel ball coach taught me to bat left handed and I have been a lefty slapper now for 5 years. I am the catcher in high-school and play outfield on my travel team. I love to catch the un-catchable ball. I am not afraid to dive if it means I can make an awesome play.
One of the most important things I would like for you to know about me is that I understand hard work and dedication. This is partially due to the fact that I am a Type 1 diabetic. I have learned that great things can come from struggles and challenges and I plan to continue to do great things, and inspire other kids to pursue their dreams no matter the circumstances. Type 1 effects children, there are no reasons and no cure. In college I plan to study Pediatric Diabetes or Endocrinology since I have a world of first-hand knowledge I can share with a child that is going through the reality of their diagnosis. There are thousands of other kids like me who think they are limited in the things they can do...I am here to show them they are wrong. I want to be the best and I want to play the best.
I have a heart and love for the game that means more to me than anything. I just want to continue to play softball as long as possible. Thank you for taking a look at my profile! Hopefully, you can help me become an even better player.
