Hi! My name is Malayna Daigle, but my friends call me MJ. I am from Eunice, Louisiana and am a true country girl. I enjoy hunting, fishing, camping and being outdoors. I attend Notre Dame High School, which is a 3A -Select school with very competitive athletic rosters in every sport. At Notre Dame High school, I am a member of the Lady Pios softball team. I recently transferred to Notre Dame High School from Iota High School. When attending Iota High, I earned the starting position at center field as a freshman, was lead-off and awarded All-District 1st team, All-parish 1st team, and All-state 1st team Outfield. This past school softball season, I worked hard to have a .505 batting average, .619 OBP, 1.052 slugging %, with 49 hits, 10 homeruns, 44 RBI, 29 BB, and 27 stolen bases. I also work diligently to maintain GPA as a student in the Iota High Honors program. I was part of the La Rampage (16/18U) travel team, where I was the starting center fielder for 5 years and worked very hard to keep that spot. I have always played up in age, being the youngest on my travel team, and I feel that has made me a stronger ball player. I considered myself to be a strong asset to our team, as a left-handed lead-off and starting center fielder, holding a .440 batting average, with 22 BB in 99 plate appearances, and an .800 slugging percentage this past summer. I then joined Louisiana Bombers 18U Wainwright for the summer of '22, having 6 homeruns, scoring 25 RBIs, 16 BBs and an OBP .483 in 60 plate appearances. I may have been the youngest on my team, but I always tried to be the most vocal and stand out as a leader, keeping my head up in difficult situations, while motivating my team to do the same. I was also selected to the USA Softball HPP 15U athlete pool in the Louisiana & Mississippi Region for the 2021 season. This 2022 fall season, I have been added to the Texas Bombers Gold 16U team and am looking forward to playing with these talented ball players, under an even better coaching staff! I also was just named to the U16 USA softball top performers list released on 12/9/22. This is a huge honor and I am looking forward to representing my country playing the game I love!
I work as much as I can in my downtime, but try to stay humble as I know no success comes without hard work! I feel that I must always be ready and open for any opportunity that presents itself. I plan to continue to work and build my softball skills, keeping my dream of being a college softball player in sight.
