My name is Katie Galmarini and I play outfield / first base for Barbe High School (2021 5-A State Champions) in Southwest Louisiana. I love softball! My goal is to continue my career as a student-athlete earning a scholarship and spot on a collegiate roster. You will find that I am smart player, highly competitive, hard-working, and very coachable.
I started playing softball when I was 6 years old and couldn’t hit a ball to save my life. Thankfully, my mom pointed out to my coaches that I was left-handed and my coach immediately flipped me to the other side of the plate where I hit the ball and was hooked.
Diving catches are my specialty and favorite part of the game. I love to get dirty! I have a very strong work ethic and spend as much time working off the field as I do on. You will often find me at the field working on defense with my dad or with my hitting coach for batting practice. I also run cross country for my high school and spend time in the gym working on speed, agility, and strength.
I currently play tournament ball with LA Glory for coaches Harlie Lanthier and Nicole Lanthier. I've learned so much with this team both on and off the field. I'm in my fourth season with fall camps and showcases. I'm excited for our spring/summer season as a Senior leader.
My approach to school is the same as my approach to softball – work hard and have fun. I currently hold a 4.02 GPA and have a full course load of advanced and AP classes. I plan to major in Business with a focus on sports and entertainment marketing. My dream is to work in the front office of an MLB team. In the meantime, I'm taking this time to keep learning and take advantage of opportunities that could give me experience towards my education and career goals.
If I’m not at the field, you can find me cuddled up with my pets reading a good book, binging a favorite show with my family, obsessing over Taylor Swift, or playing piano.
