Maison Burton '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Maison Burton and I’m a senior in high school. Since I was a little girl I was encouraged by my parents to always try new things from performing arts to athletics.  At five years old when I got my first tee ball set, I fell in love with softball and I’ve been playing this amazing game ever since!

Being part of a team creates life long bonds, teamwork, and character. I have continued to play other sports over the years and learned that sports can mimic life. Some of my days in school are glorious, and some days are a grind. But the lessons I’ve gained from playing softball are:   

1.     Focus on the things I can control

2.     Let go of my mistakes

3.     Always keep learning                                     

 Taking the time to get better in the classroom and on the field while working toward my goals helps me with perseverance and recognizing that mastery of this game is a journey that some days requires taking one step back to go two steps forward tomorrow. Ideally, I would love to play for a coach that will empower me with the skills to reach my full athletic potential at a college that will prepare me to be a successful member of society.

My future goals are to continue playing the sport I love at a collegiate level and to make an impact on both my high school and travel teams, and in my community. Knowing at the end of the day that I’ve helped make a difference and to keep a smile on my face!
