My name is Maya Patty and I am the starting shortstop on the Mounds View High School Varsity Softball Team in Arden Hills, Minnesota. I was selected for the Varsity Team as a Freshman and have continued to be the starting shortstop throughout my three years at Mounds View. Recently I was selected by the Breakdown Sports USA staff to be among the featured players in the 2018 Minnesota High School Softball Guidebook. This was a great honor for me and my fellow Mounds View teammates as we were nominated by coaches across the state.
I also start as shortstop and 3rd base on my club team - the Minnesota Magic. Last summer our team won all three tournaments we participated in and were considered by many to be the top 16U team in the state. Four of my team mates were on the 2018 High School State Softball Championship Team (Stillwater High School). This should give you a good idea of the type of talent that I play with on my Club team. We will be playing in the Tulsa Elite Invite from July 5 to 8 and in Nationals in Kent, Washington on July 22 to 29. I was also asked to play on the 18U team for the Colorado IDT from June 27 to July 1.
As I am committed to continuously to improving my game, I work daily to build my skills through conditioning, participating in regional clinics, independent training sessions, and playing other sports including basketball and cross country throughout the year. My defensive play is strong and strategic; my hitting is solid and I consistently get on base through my ability to read the ball well.
My goal is to play college softball as I am passionate about the sport and believe that I will be a confident student-athlete. I am motivated by my faith and family, and will pursue a degree that encompasses my interests in criminal science, law, and history. Looking forward to working hard on a driven, competitive, and supportive team of girls who love the game.
