I am currently 16 years old, and softball is one of my passions. I currently play ASA travel ball as well as High School Softball. I have been playing travel ball since I was 8yrs old. I am extremely interested in playing College softball and maybe even one day it will become professional. I am working really hard outside of main practices to improve my skills which allowed me to play varsity as a freshman, and to just all around improve my skills. I play catcher and 3rd base mainly however; I have no issues playing where the coach needs me, the only position I can't play is Pitcher, however if the opportunity came along for me to learn I would be willing to learn. I feel knowing how to play and what is expected of each position is beneficial for a couple reasons. I feel it improves your chances to be a better utility player and a better teammate. It especially improves your knowledge of game.
My current goals to get into college are to focus on keeping good grades so that I can continue to participate in sports. Once I get into a college my goals would be kind of similar, as far as the keeping good grades(A or high B minimum), participating in Softball, keeping a healthy social life, and volunteering somewhere. I'm a good candidate for softball teams because I am a good team player, I'm a good utility player, extremely coachable, stay very focused, very hardworking, and I do my best to acknowledge my mistakes and learn from them to better myself as both a player and a person. For example, this last ASA season my coach told me the main thing I needed to work on is how I take failure or loss. Instead of beating myself up when I make a mistake I need to admit to the team I did something wrong instead of putting on my I don't care face. I'm still working on learning to be vulnerable with my team when I feel like I failed but I am confident that I will continue to make progress on this as I learn the best ways to communicate with all of them at once.
I am different from most people because I am willing to admit when I've done wrong and then work to fix it. In athletics I am different because I give my 110% at both practice and even more at games, as I am extremely competitive, and I really enjoy the adrenaline especially when I am at catcher. When it comes to academics I work just as hard as I would on the field, because in order for me to give it my all on the field I have to give my education my all as well, especially if I want to meet my goals.
As far as my future with College I want to study Criminal Justice and maybe counseling. It has always been my dream to be a detective. I have always enjoyed helping others and with this it is just a different type of help depending on the field and the situation. I have many friends that call me their counselor because they always come to me when they are having problems or feeling down. I listen to them, give them advice and help lift their spirits up. I have residents where I work that I have the same situations. I love being there for people and helping them. There is so much going on in the world and we all really just need to be there for on another.
Thank you for taking your time to read this statement and get to know me a little bit, your time is valued and appreciated, and I truly value the opportunities given to me. Have a good day! :)
