I am a 5'5 left-handed pitcher and outfielder, who's also had experience playing first base. Unfortunately because of the COVID-19 pandemic affecting the season, I was not able to have a freshman year, but I didn't let that stop me. As a starter for the Madison High School softball varsity team in 2021, I have been both on the rubber, and out in center field. Ever since I could barely grip the ball in my small hand from tee-ball, I've grown up with softball and have truly loved the sport since.
Because I played at a competitive level for soccer up until I entered high school, I consider myself to be quick on my feet, and able to move when I need to. In previous seasons, I have batted in all different spots in the lineup, including leadoff, able to make contact and lay down bunts, and to the 4-5-6 spots, and knock-in my teammates. I find myself to be an aggressive baserunner, constantly looking to take that extra base closer to home. I can also use my speed in the outfield, and have made many difficult plays throughout the high school season. There's nothing I love more than trusting that I have a good team behind me when I'm on the mound, and I try my best whenever I'm in another position.
I consider myself to be competitive in anything I do, including academics throughout high school. I have consistently been on the high honor roll, and in all honors classes, and specific AP classes. I partake in many clubs, one of which is where I am the Treasurer of the Class Council for the Class of 2023. I'm also in my school's student council and have partaken in Project Aware.
In terms of playing in college, I want both my athletics and academics to be weighed in the choices. In terms of DI, DII, or DIII, I'm interested in everything! But I do want to look at colleges that offer my interests, which include business, finance, and possibly computer science.
Thank you,
Michelle Rhee
