Personal Statement

My name is Samantha Suter. I am currently a sophomore at Depaul Catholic High school in Wayne, NJ. I started playing when I was 6 and ever since then I have loved the game. I was a starting varsity outfielder for my high school team. One of my greatest accomplishment was making second team for conference and honorable mention for all county as a freshman in high school.

I have a drive and competitiveness in everything I do, not just softball. I always wanted to play volleyball since I was in middle school and the fact that DePaul Catholic High School had a volleyball team was  an additional reason I wanted to go there next to the level of academics and competitive softball team they have.   I took a volleyball clinic a few months before tryouts and practiced hard to make the team. Not only did I make the team but I was starting JV player exhibiting my drive to be a competitive athlete.

Another accomplishment of mine was switching to a slap hitter in my freshman year.  I was struggling at the plate and at the suggestion of my club coach I took slapping lessons from a ex pro softball player.    With persistent practicing and coaching, I ended my Fall season with a .440 batting average 3 months after leaning to slap.

Early in my softball career I faced some difficult challenges due to circumstances out of my control and with my mother/role model by my side, I was able to come back stronger and more confident than I was before. Playing softball shaped me into the person I am today.  Softball teaches life lessons. It isn't just a bat, a ball, and a glove it taught me how to handle not only failures but success.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
