My number one goal and aspiration is to attend a 4 year college to obtain my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering. This degree would benefit my ultimate goal of going to medical school so I may become an Orthopedic Surgeon. Secondly, I would be ecstatic if I was afforded an opportunity to play any sport at the college level. My sport of interest is baseball. Yes I've heard it all before; girls should play softball but that is what makes me different. I have been playing club baseball with the boys since I was eight. Baseball has allowed me to travel across the United States; Florida, California, New York, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada and Texas. I was a Direct Select from New Mexico to play in the All American Games in Vera, FL with the boys. I was invited to play with a California boy's team in Cooperstown, NY. Most recently, I was invited to Vero Beach, FL to attend and Elite Development Program sponsored by Major League Baseball and USA Women's Baseball.
I would consider myself to be very persistent. I do love a challenge especially when someone says I cannot do something. Maybe it was a good thing my parents told me from a ripe age that playing baseball wouldn't be easy and I would always have to prove myself. Isn't that what life's about? I guess you can say I've built a tough skin and realize hard work and dedication pays off. In my spare time, I'm at the batting cages, gym or baseball field. I've broken my thumb, my nose, had surgery from playing the game I love and that still hasn't stopped me. The work ethic I've developed in my short life is not reflected only in sports but in all aspects of my life. School is no different. I know if I do not put in the work I am only hurting myself. It's called being accountable. Throughout middle school I have maintained at least a 3.5 to a 3.8 G.P.A and have been accepted into Honor Roll each semester. My grades have remained the same even while participating in club baseball, school baseball, school basketball, traveling for baseball, going to strength and conditioning or putting in work at the fields or batting cages.
I don't know where life will take me, but I do know without an education, without persistence, without hard work, it won't be very far.
