My name is Maiya Reinhart and I am an uncommitted Senior from Batavia, NY. The main reason I am uncommitted is I'm a dual sport athlete and have been a varsity stand out in both Softball and swimming since seventh grade. Everyone sort of assumed I was going to swim in college but on my last college visit to Marist it truly hit me. I want to spend the next four years doing what I truly love and that's playing softball. I turned down the scholarship and a great opportunity to swim at the division I level at a very prestigious school to follow my heart. Which leads me to where I am today. I want to go to school in a warmer climate, that has always been a goal. You cant beat the sunshine, especially when you are trying to play softball, its a lot better than the snow!! Anyway, let me tell you about myself. I'm 5'8 200 pounds and very muscular. I've been a competitive swimmer since I was 8 and have played baseball/softball since I was 4. Growing up with 2 brothers I was thrown into baseball at an early age. Made the all star team every year I was eligible with the boys and was always a starter. I played through little league and once I was old enough to play softball in middle school I made the varsity team as a seventh grader. Honestly at first the coach wasn't keen on putting a seventh grader on the varsity team but right before sectionals he realized he needed me, pulled me up and started me in right field. I've been named to the Monroe County all league 1st team 4 years in a row, last year I earned Division 4 Monroe county player of the year, I was team MVP the last two years, I hold the team home run record in a season and career, I've been named to the sectional all tournament team the last 3 years and I also hold the school record for most stolen bases. My one coach who has coached at the juco college level says my speed really impresses him and my ability to run the bases. Last year my batting average was a .565.
I'm also a scholar athlete holding a 92% GPA, I volunteer in my community and every other day I volunteer in a kindergarten classroom in my town, as I truly love working with children and hope to teach Kindergarten someday. I'm a leader and I get along easily with everyone. I think you will find I would be an asset to your program. If scholarship money for next year is not available that is not a deal breaker. I just want a chance to play. A chance to prove myself and show you what I have to offer. I don't think you will be disappointed. My older brother is currently playing at the Division I level at the University of Akron for Coach Sabo.
