Softball has been a huge part of my life. Whether it be a warm sunny day or a cold rainy evening, I always found myself next to a diamond. When I was younger, some of my best memories are of the smell of hotdogs and hamburgers cooking on the grill, as I watched my dad leg out a double. He played in a club team, for slow pitch softball. So, I have grown up around the game, and have been holding a softball since I was five years old. Softball is a huge part of my life, not just because of the old memories associated with the game, but the craving of new ones that it gives me. Softball gives me an opportunity to learn how to be a role model and leader, as well as acting like an outlet for me mentally. If I ever have a problem, I immediately turn to the field. Without softball, I wouldn’t have been able to discover my true identity, and that is an athlete. This game is everything to me, and continuing it in college will help me excel in everything I do.
Ever since I was little I have had a craving for knowledge. I always wanted to know every detail of every subject I was learning in school, and especially on the diamond. This made me a very coachable player, as I never turned a blind eye on new tips for becoming even better than before. I am incredibly dedicated and passionate, once I put my mind to something, nothing will stop me from completing that task. In fact, similar to my passion for knowledge, I also share a passion for coaching. I go to every JV and modified practice I can attend and always teach the younger girls things to help them excel in this sport. I would love to be head coach of my own school team some day. In addition to all my characteristics of a good softball player, my stats show my dedication. My pop time currently is at 1.8 seconds, and my batting average for my junior season (2019) was .521. My freshman year, which was my first year on varsity, I won the MVP award, and received the same award next season during my sophomore year and I have been named captain of the 2020 season. I think I have a lot to offer any team that I am on, and I will always give 110% effort in everything I do.
Finding a college that I feel at home with as well as a team as passionate about this game as I am is extremely important to me. I would love to play along side teammates who are friendly, open to new things and have an extremely tight bond with their teammates. I’m not looking for a dominating team who wins every game, but I want to play for a team that will stop at nothing to make sure they make their mark. As for scholarship opportunities, I will jump at any and all opportunities to receive a scholarship. Having scholarship(s) will help immensely, and it will help me stay dedicated to the game because I wont have to work every waking hour of the day. Having money from a scholarship will take a huge weight off my shoulders, and it will help me stay focused on my academics and the game I love.
