My name is Cassidy Kachnik, and throughout my life, I have participated in a variety of sports, like soccer, softball, volleyball, and basketball. However, going into my sophomore year of high school, I decided to stick to the one sport I have loved for my entire life: softball. I have a great passion for softball, and ever since T-ball, I knew softball was going to become a huge part of my life, and it did.
Throughout recent years I’ve come to call my teammates my family, and I’ve discovered and developed new aspects of myself that I didn’t even know I had. I've had many successes and failures over my years of play, but in this game, you play to fail. That's the only way you can grow as a player and as a teammate, whether the struggles be mental or physical.
Besides softball, I am quite determined in keeping good grades at my high school. This past sophomore year I essentially started fresh at a brand new school with brand new teachers and set of students. I had to adapt and adjust, and ended up with a cumulative 3.8 gpa for the year. Getting my first highschool B was a jab to what I saw as my pillar of success, but I took that failure and continued through until I raised it to an A. I’m still struggling with subjects like math and science, but as a coming junior I know I will get to where I need to be. Preparation for the ACT and/or SAT is also a priority of mine that I will not take lightly so as to earn the highest scores my abilities as a student can permit.
Softball isn't just a sport for me, it's my whole life. My teammates have become my family, and the game has become my way of living. Without this sport I wouldn't know what to do with myself. I love softball with a burning passion, and am working as often as I can to improve and develop my game with the help of my softball coaches. My team drives me to be better than I believe myself to be, I am above average, and I intend to prove that on and off the field with everything I attempt, succeed, and fail at.
