One of my biggest goals in life is to be able to play at the collegiate level. I have put in so much time and hard work for this sport and I continue to everyday. My academics are very important to me. At the end of the day all I want is to get a good education. If I can play softball while doing that then that would be a dream come true. You might want to know that I have been working hard all winter long on increasing my fastball velocity. My pitching instructor has given me techniques to work on to increase my velocity. Even though I played varsity basketball this winter, I have increased my fastball velocity by 6 mph since the end of fall travel softball. My fastball is now at 60 mph and I have a goal of hitting 65 mph by the end of summer 2018. I started out pitching in travel ball at age 13, as a spinning specialist since I have long fingers and can manipulate the ball. My pitching instructor did not concern herself with my fastball at that time since I had the professed goal of just becoming a good high school pitcher. But once I started pitching in travel ball I advanced very quickly and my instructor realized I had the potential to pitch in college.
