First, thank you for taking the time to visit my profile. The last three years have been a very exciting time in my softball career. I have made the decisions to become a fire fighter and I am looking forward to beginning my program. Last year I was voted 1st team all state for softball and I batted a 500+ with several home runs. This year to facilitate my integration into a male world I have decided to play baseball instead of softball. I will post updated video in the next couple of weeks. If your school has a fire program and can help me achieve my fire fighter 1, fire fighter 2 and paramedic certifications I would love to hear from you.
Every coach I have worked with uses the same words to describe me: coachable, athletic, strong, mentally and physically flexible, and most importantly they comment on my character and discipline. I love the sport of softball and how it allows me to compete and it is measurable in every way. My parents have taught me that softball is a metaphor for life. You get out what you are willing to put in and although people only celebrate the results, I thrive on the work that is required for achieving results. I love to give back by developing other girls’ skills, working with lower classmen, as well as donating my time to the little league program. These activities help me mature my leadership skills as well as be more immersed in the game. I also very much enjoy being mentored by my seniors who share their experiences and allow me to avoid obstacles before I am confronted with them. I feel that I would be a positive addition to any program and able to contribute greatly to the team’s success.
What makes me different from the other 99% is I am not afraid to pay today for tomorrow’s results. Although there are some that feel there are naturals or gifted people I have already learned that long-term consistency yields results and there are no freebies in life. As much as I love softball I know my time playing is limited and I want to play as much and as well as possible. I work on my game throughout the day even in my most routine activities such as sit-ups when I am watching TV and doing homework, bouncing a ball, helping my sister practice, walking and jogging everywhere. I also do scheduled training 4 times a week and private coaches to develop my skills and teach me things I have not considered yet. I try not to let other distractions in life take my eye off my personal goals. I have also learned from my parents to not be afraid to fail; this has allowed me to take challenges head on making minor corrections as I go to achieve higher results. This overall philosophy is also carried over into my academic life.
