Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Madison Brown, and I am a 2024 graduate, currently attending Southmoreland School district in Scottdale, Pennsylvania. Ever since I was young, softball was the one thing that stuck by my side. At the age of 10, I soon realized that I wanted softball to be much more than just a hobby. My parents and I fell in love with the game, and I was fortunate to play at levels that are more competitive. During this time, softball was a huge aspect in my life and was something I dedicated myself full heartedly too. As I am now older, I want to further my softball career in a D1 college. Playing against the toughest opponents at the collegiate level is my personal goal that I will and am currently striving to reach.
As of now I am interested in a physics degree, however that is not set in stone. In school I excel in all aspects. I am currently in NJHS, the Gifted Program, honor classes, etc.
On any team, I bring a sense of competitiveness. When I am on the field, I block out everything other than the game itself, and hardly get rattled by unexpected situations. Hard work also is a key asset in my mind to be a successful softball player. Whether it is at practice or a game, I will give everything I physically can, along with a positive attitude. To paint a picture of my goals, I hope to make it to a top D1 school. I also want to have the highest batting averages among other pitchers that attended the school that I will eventually commit too. I also would like to have the schools strikeout record, which is extreme, however, not impossible.
After college, I can see myself in a scientific field of study. One of my possible career choices is either an astrophysicist or a medical scientist. I will make sure the school I commit to is equipped with not only a great softball program, but also an adequate place for me to learn.
