Ryan Smith '22 Recruiting Profile

I am currently a junior in high school who strives to play college softball at the highest level possible. I am a person who is always willing to put in the extra work both in school and for softball. Consistently, I have been on the honor roll for every marking period in high school. This year, I am taking two honors classes, which are Chemistry and Spanish 3. I am a very organized, hardworking, and a determined person in school.

My hard work and determination carries over into all aspects of my softball abilities. I put in a lot of extra time and extra work in the pursuit of getting better. I have been playing competitive travel softball since I was 9 years old. For the past 5 seasons I have played on a travel team that is based out of Central PA, called PA Krunch 16u Blue. We have a strong group of girls that push and pull for each other. I am extremely lucky to find a team that plays together and has high aspirations. I am an outfielder as my primary position and second base as my secondary position, but I am always ready to play where my team needs me. I believe what I bring most to my team is my consistency at the plate. My coaches and teammates know that each at bat I get will be a quality at bat.

For my high school season, I began as a starter on the varsity softball team as a freshman. As a freshmen, I was named to the PennLive" Next9" Team which is the best 9 underclassmen in the conference. I also, was named to second team all conference by Pennlive and Honorable Mention by Sentinel.  Our team also made it to district for the first time in several years. For this year's season, I was selected as captain. I am excited to have the opportunity of being captain to use my skills of leadership and motivation to help make my team the best it can be.

My main goal is to become better each day while also bettering my team as a whole. I look forward to growing as both and a player and student.
