Hello, my name is Maddison Yost, a 16-year-old rising junior at Southern Columbia Area High School. For as long as I can remember I've immersed myself in softball, proudly starting for both my high school and travel teams. Softball isn't just a game to me; it's where I feel most like myself. On the field, I blend fun with seriousness because it's not just a sport; it's my passion and a crucial part of my life. Beyond the game, my teammates are like family. When one of us is down, I make it a point to lift them up, just as they do for me. This supportive environment fuels my determination, whether I'm striving for excellence in academics—where I consistently earn a spot on the distinguished honor roll—or on the field, where I give my all. I'm a right-handed hitter, but I'm also diligently working on switch-hitting to expand my versatility at the plate. For my school team, I play mostly at shortstop and contribute on the pitcher's mound, showcasing my skills in both defense and pitching. In contrast, for my travel team, I primarily hold down third base, where I bring a strong defensive presence and contribute to the team's strategy. In addition to softball, I'm actively involved in numerous clubs and activities at school. I thrive on staying engaged and making a positive impact in various facets of school life. These experiences not only complement my academic pursuits but also reinforce my leadership skills and sense of community. Looking ahead, I plan to continue playing softball in college, aiming to major in psychology. Understanding human behavior has always fascinated me, and I envision a future where I can combine my love for the sport with the study of the mind. I'm driven by a desire to be the best version of myself, both in my studies and in softball. This journey isn't just about personal success; it's about embracing challenges, growing with my teammates, and making a meaningful impact both on and off the field.
