Kaitlyn Beers '16 Recruiting Profile

     I hold the record at my school for being the youngest player and the fourth player to ever hit a homerun out of our varsity field.  I set this record in eighth grade and although our field is not marked, it is larger than a normal softball field.  As good as personal records are, my team comes first.  When I play, I do not play for myself.
     It is very challenging growing up in a small rural area of Pennsylvania when you want to succeed at softball.  There are not a lot of facilities available to practice in during inclement weather. Just finding a good team to play on is difficult, but I never let these limitations stand in my way of becoming a competitive softball player.
     Since I came from a small town, I never really knew where softball could take me.  One day, when I was 12, a coach asked me to join his travel softball team and it really opened my eyes to everything softball could offer.  My sophomore year, my high school team made it to the semi-final game in the state playoffs (first softball team from my school to make it this far).  As the starting third baseman, it was a great feeling of accomplishment to be part of this team.  I would like to continue playing softball at a collegiate level.
     Academics are also important to me.  My goals for high school are to get the best grades I can, graduate with honors, and to have a high class ranking.  My college academic goals are to follow through with my intended major, Pre-Veterinarian, and to be accepted to a Veterinarian school.
