Playing in college is something I have always dreamed of. As a four sport athlete, I believe in myself on being adaptable, that I am hard-working, and I have always put forth my best effort. While, I enjoy my other sports, I've always considered a special love for softball. It can be easy for a person to take things into their own hands and not to play as a team in other sports where as in softball, every person has to be able to contribute to the team. I'm a true believer, that in order to excel at any sport, you can't restrict yourself to one position. You have to be able to play every where if needed. In recent years, I've spent most of my time at second base. Last year on my old travel team, I was asked to take catching into my hands and consider it as my primary spot on the team. That's where I grew and got to know more for my first year of catching. This year, I wanted to work and become an outfielder. It was and is fun experience to learn a position that I had never played before. I've had games where we needed a catcher or a second baseman and I've stepped up to take that opportunity to play at that position on the field. I've had a lot of games that I needed to go to a position that I have never played before nor have had much experience with (although it wasn't very pretty at times, but was willing to learn!). I still gave it my best effort. Playing multiple positions has its challenges, but with a good work ethic and good mentality, it makes the game more fun when you understand each position. I've spent the most time at outfield and second, but I believe I can contribute to your team however I am needed.
Just like my athletics, I've always tried my best in pushing myself to get to higher levels with academics. Something that has always frustrated me is when teams look forward to playing "bad teams" to get an easy win and get annoyed when playing "good teams". To me, it is more valuable to play against and lose against a good team than it is to mercy rule a bad team. Winning means nothing if you get nothing out of it, and playing against better people will help you and your team get better in the long-run. This exact thing can be said for when it comes to academics. Instead of taking some classes that have lower expectations, try pushing yourself to get to become an AP student for the future.
Thank you for taking the time to read my statement :)
