My name is Gianna Surra and I am a catcher / 3b / utility player from St. Marys, Pennsylvania. I will be graduating in 2024 From St. Marys Area High School.
Softball has become a big part of my life, it has helped me develop a great work ethic and given me a ton of friends throughout the years. Softball has taught me that if I put my mind to something I can accomplish anything, academically or athletically. My academics have always been very important to me. The high standards I set for myself academically help me in my athletics. I have a 4.17 GPA, ranked 4th in my class and have been able to maintain a 4.0 GPA or higher throughout my high school career.
My biggest strength athletically is my work ethic and my knowledge of the game. As a catcher I try to learn everything about every position in the field. Since I am a "field general" I need to know everything that is happening on each play. My coach has me call pitches for our pitchers and the strategy that I learned overall helps my game play. My work ethic is why I am here today! I have been the starting catcher since my freshman year in high school, but I have hours upon hours of work to be able to win and maintain the starting job as I strive to be the best that I can be for myself and our team. This past season I was fortunate enough to be named our teams Defensive MVP, and a CE Tri County Honorable Mention All Star as a sophomore.
I want to play for a school where academics are as important as athletics. but most importantly I don't want to just be part of a team, I want to be part of a family!
