I’ve been playing softball since I was seven years old. I originally started playing to follow in my big sister’s footsteps, however, it didn’t take long before it became a passion of my own. Even though a big part of my growth and development throughout the years has been as a catcher, I am an asset in any position. I believe in the importance of giving 100% of my energy and efforts in whatever position would benefit my team, even if that means playing in an alternate position. I’ve accomplished many things since those first days playing this extraordinary sport.
During my first year playing for the provincial team, we competed at the Canadian Softball Championships, this in itself was an exhilarating experience, seeing as it was my first one, but having won the best catcher of the tournament made it that much more memorable. After the amazing season I had, I was one out of three to be brought up to the older team. This experience was difficult at first, as I hadn’t played with any of the girls before. I was, however, able to adapt and make friendships that will now last a lifetime. I worked my way up in the lineup and became the leadoff batter. In my fourth year as a Quebec Rebelle, I made the team that represented Quebec at the 2022 Canada Games. This was one of the most memorable experiences I had in this sport. My team won the silver medal, and I was tied for having the best batting average of the tournament with a 0.609 average. At the end of that season, I won the award of most valuable player on my team.
Academically, I see a lot of success. I mostly excel in math and science because those are the classes I am most passionate about, but I do well in my other classes as well. In high school, I was in high Math, Chemistry and Physics and I was in enriched English. I’m currently attending a junior college, Spoon River College, in Illinois. I am currently working towards getting a math major. I would like to attend a four-year school that would allow me to develop both academically and athletically.
