My name is Macy Pearl Litzenberger and I am a softball player born in 2006 with a 2024 grad year. I am a right-handed catcher and left-handed batter from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
My love of softball started around age seven with the opportunity to watch my older brother play and my dad coach. My dad has always said to me "players are made in the backyard" and aside from my formal softball training, we have spent countless hours practicing, improving my game but also teaching me to be self-driven and motivated. I have learned that hard work comes with rewards and have had the opportunity to compete all around North America, including tournaments in Oklahoma, Vegas, Iowa, and most recently the 2022 U17 Canadian Nationals in Montreal.
On the field I am focused, confident, and reliable; I take pride in calling my games and am always learning and adjusting as I go. I value the strong friendships I have made and you can always hear me from the sidelines encouraging my teammates. I am known for my goofy sense of humour.
Academics are important to me and I have worked hard to find a balance between sports, school, and fun. Time management and organization skills have supported me in maintaining an above 95% average throughout my grade 9 and 10 years. At this point, I am uncertain about my field of study but particularly enjoy maths and sciences and am considering engineering.
While softball is my main focus you can catch me spending my free time on the golf course. In 2021, I won gold in sections and districts for my school golf team and advanced to provincials. I enjoy snowboarding and wake surfing, and although I do not excel at either I am still learning and love the challenge and the time spent with my friends and family.
In 2014 I was diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes. Early on I had a lot of responsibility in managing my care. Having Diabetes as an athlete can take its toll but I've learnt to become more self-aware. I have taken control, worked hard to manage my blood sugars and am determined to not let it hold me back in any aspect of life.
Thank you for taking the time to read a little more about me.
