My name is Katie Berg, I am a 16 year old from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada and will be graduating in 2023. I have always had a passion for athletics as I have competed in multiple sports at the national level and I believe that college softball is the next step in my athletic career /pursuits. Off the diamond, I have always put a high standard on my academics while pursuing my passion for softball. I am a hard working student athlete and I love to bring a positive and enthusiastic attitude to the ball field. I love/enjoy learning more about the game of softball and I am always motivated to improve my skills outside of team practice. Academically, I am a bilingual student that enjoys learning various different subjects in both English and French. Currently I do not have a specific major in mind as I find many different career paths interesting, however, I enjoy taking classes in psychology, chemistry and biology.
My primary position is second base but I am a very flexible player who enjoys the challenge of playing other positions. I am a left handed slap hitter with the ability to use many different hitting methods to get on base such as hard slaps, soft slaps, drag bunts and full swings. I am able to put pressure on the defenceby having the ability to use any one of these options combined with my speed.
I am fortunate to have played on some very successful softball teams. I have played at provincial and national levels in Canada and have won two provincial championships along with two silver and one bronze. I have also had experience travelling with the 222’s program to tournaments in Florida and California which has given me the opportunity to challenge myself and continue to improve my skills and knowledge of the game I love.
