The game of softball to me, is more than a game, it's a lifestyle. Growing up on the ball field has not only made me a better player but, a better person as well. There are many lessons that have transferred from the field to daily situations off the field. Those lessons, are irreplaceable to my family and I. The game has always been a filter for me, whenever I'm frustrated or don't know what to do, I go hit a bucket of balls into the net, or have my dad hit some ground balls to me.
"He died for us, so I play for him", is a quote that I stumbled upon by accident, but I feel like it driven my career in the right direction. I feel like when you play for God, you play for a greater cause. When you play for him, you play for two. Collegiately, I aspire to become and gym teacher and then later become a coach like many of the coaches that made me the person and player I am today. Playing softball in college isn't just about the glory or the bragging rights, for me, it's about knowing that I put every little piece of me that I had to offer into every game that season.
Having moved every three years due to my parents being the in US Air Force, there has been quite a few challenges to overcome. Whether it's, lack of commitment from the coaches and girls, or even finding a team that is competitive enough to play in tournaments throughout the year, there is always a disadvantage to over come. On, the flip-side of that, there are many benefits to growing up as a military child and being overseas. I've traveled many places to play and have made many memories and friends that people who grew up playing in the states, can't say they've had. Being in this position makes me very adaptable and resilient. On the field I aspire to be a leader, off the field, I aspire to be a caring friend and someone that my teammates can come to about anything.
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future"
