April 2018
Emily Rye 2019 SlapAs a child, my dream was to always play softball in college. I remember being around 5 years old going to watch college softball games, and thinking, "I want to be out there one day." I never thought that I would get the opportunity to play softball at the next level, and to think that my dreams may come true is truly a blessing. I have been very dedicated to softball my entire life. I give up every weekend to play the game I love, rather than hanging out with my friends or sitting at home. I put in extra work to be the best possible me I can be. I work hard, and I never get down on myself when things do not go my way, or I'm not having the best day. It is important to me to remember that I know what I am capable of, but no one is perfect so I will show my ability next time I have the chance to. I also believe that academics are the most important attribute to a student athlete. I always put my grades first, and make sure I am putting in the time needed for my grades to be as high as they can. If an athlete is the most athletic, strong, and fundamentally sound athlete I have seen, I believe that if the academics and grades are not important to him or her, then all of the athleticism is irrelevant. My goals are to go to a university, and get a bachelor's degree and a minor in Spanish. I am very grateful and blessed for all the opportunities I have been given, and now the only thing left is to fufill my dream of playing softball at the next level.
