Zymra Carrasco '19 Recruiting Profile

  I'm Zymra Carrasco & I'm 16 years old. Growing up, I always had highest of the high dreams. Now that I understand the necessities & the work needed for those goals, I'm willing to do whatever is needed in order to conquer them.

  My dreams have been to get an education & play softball for a D1 college, but my studies are very important to my future. Therefore, my mind is not set on my dream but set on my future (meaning I will get my education where possible, while playing softball). Softball inspires me to do my best & I deeply want to be someone that others can look up to & be their inspiration.

  Softball came to me very naturally having two older sisters play the game through high school, travel ball & one went on to play college ball at Cal State San Bernardino. Through them & my Dad, I've learned game strategy, pitch selection, pitching & 1st base techniques. My Dad played men's major fastpitch (ISC ball) as a catcher & went on to play his 1st World Series in 1977. He played an additional 20 years & afterwards coached for 25yrs. After all those years, I am lucky enough to be able to call him, My Coach.

  As a youngster, I was a member of TYBR, Texas Youth Bull Riders Association. I started with Mutton Bustin & graduated to steers. Through my Mothers fear, I was not allowed to go further into riding bulls. But, my real love is the game of softball. It takes me to another place of calmness, where all the hustle & bustle isn't thought of.
