Lindsey Laubacher '21 Recruiting Profile

Hello. My name is Lindsey Laubacher, and I currently play for ROCK Gold 18u - White. I am a 2021 RHP, but I am happy to play wherever my coach needs me. I throw a fastball, change up, screwball, and rise ball, and for the fall 2019 season my ERA is 2.33 with 10 strike outs and 3 walks over 15 innings pitched. I bat right handed and am hitting .444 for this fall with 9 plate appearances. The things I value most in my team, my coaches, and myself are hard work, good effort, and open communication. I would like to pursue a biology based major to prepare for a future in medicine and hope to become an orthopedic surgeon for athletic youth. I know this is an ambitious goal, but I believe that with the support of my family, friends and team, I can make that dream come true, too.

Another dream of mine for years has been of playing in college, and fortunately, I have been blessed to have my family's support with this as well. The past couple of years have tested my resolve though, as I was hit by a line drive off of my face mask while pitching for my varsity high school team in April, 2018. The resulting concussion symptoms lasted way longer than they should have, and eventually I was diagnosed by the incredible doctors at Boston Children's Hospital's Pediatric Pain Rehabilitation Center with post-concussion syndrome. After five weeks of care in their program in Boston with my mom (my dad and brother stayed in Virginia), I ended up missing the fourth quarter of my freshman year and half of my sophomore year. Despite this, I was able to make my way back into my Honor's classes at school. 366 days after my injury, I threw my fastest pitch so far, and I played my first game 14 months after the injury. As of this past fall, I'm finally back and better than before, and I can't wait to continue my student athlete career in college.
