Ashley Wark '14 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Ashley Wark.  I am 17 years old, 5 foot 9, and I just completed my first semester of my junior year at Patriot High School. During my freshmen year I was the starting varsity pitcher with an ERA of 1.83 and a record of 16-4 and a overall team record of 17-5. We were the regular season champions and finished second place in the district tournament. My team was able to advance to the second round of regionals before being defeated. During the season I received second team All District honors, my varsity letter, and the Tiger Pride coaches award. I also had the honor of having a newspaper article about me put in the Softball Today magazine, and was named one of the 5 new faces to watch in my area. These were big honors for me. After the high school season ended, my travel season started and my team had a very successful season. We were the ASA Virginia State "A" Champions and qualified and played in the 18u Class A Nationals in Normal, Illinois.  I was the number one pitcher for my travel team and had a record of 9-7 and a ERA of 3.21. My sophomore year I started at a new school. It was a building year for my team but we finished with a record of 8-13 and I had a record of 8-11. Moving into the travel season we have come in second place in our first two tournaments and we hope to once again qualify for the Class A ASA Nationals. Not only as a player but as a person I can offer many things to a team because I am a very hardworking and dedicated player. I spend time away from practice to improve my skills and to become a overall better athlete. I also possess leadership skills and was voted Co-Captian twice for my middle school softball team. But, overall I work hard to acheive my goal of being able to play college softball. I would perfer to attend a college on the East coast so I would not be to far away from my family but I would also be open to attending schools in the midwest. When looking for a college I am interested in a larger school perferably Division 1 with a good academic program. But I am open to different sized colleges and any divisions as long as the academics are excellent! As a rising sophmore I am unsure of my desired major but I have a interest in exercise science. My goal as an aspiring college athlete is to be able to play the highest level of college softball that I am able and to make a good lasting impression on that school's program.
