My name is Kaylee Clarke, and I am a future graduate of the Class of 2016 at Tumwater High School. I have played softball since I was 9 years old, and begun my competitive career at the age of 12. For seven years I have worked hard in developing my skills and becoming the high-achieving player I am now. At 16 years old, I currently play for WA Speed 18U Gold as a consistent right-handed hitter and a 3B/Utility player. I also have been a 2-year varsity starter for my state-attending high school team.
Softball has taught me how to balance hard-work and dedication on the field as well the importance of hard work in the classroom. I have a 3.88 GPA and have been on the honor roll since the 7th grade. I have taken honors and accelerated classes since middle school, and I plan to take AP courses my next two years of high school. I have received the All-Academic Award my freshman and sophomore year, as well as receiving invitations to many academic opportunities from programs across the nation.
Since very young I have pursued academic excellence and continue to strive to be the best I can be. Although my parents have always been my #1 supporters, they have never needed to push me to do things – I do them myself. I have always been self-motivated person and am driven to do my best in anything I do. Not only do I perform well in the classroom and on the field, but I also participate in many extracurricular activities. I have helped coach youth softball teams, fundraised and helped at events for cancer organizations, and helped at a resource bank for kids who need school supplies. These are not things I do because I need the community service hours to graduate, I do these things because they empower me as a person and I enjoy giving back to the community.
Softball is not just a sport to me – it is a lifestyle. It has taught me the importance of teamwork, dedication, hard work. It has become my passion and the love of my life. I strive to play at the collegiate level while getting a good education. I am a good fit for any college with a competitive program because I am a natural-born leader who always wants to improve. I never settle and my competitive nature pushes me achieve the best. My coaches have always told me I am extremely coachable and a well-rounded player. I want to be kind of player and student you are looking for.
