Hi,
My name is Bella Matthias and I attend Greenfield High School in Greenfield, WI. I will graduate with the Class of 2016 and look forward to attending a college to further my education and fulfill my dream of playing collegiate softball.
I am a highly competitive student athlete and have played team sports almost my entire life but my true passion is playing the game of softball. I work very hard both on and off the field.
In the classroom, I take great pride in bringing home good grades and have consistently received recognition for High Honors.
I started playing softball when I was 6 years old and began taking pitching lessons at the age of 9 and since then I have continued to work on improving my game all year round. My primary position is pitcher but I have played every other position except catcher. I swing a very consistent bat and my coaches often make comments about my good form when they see me hit. I have excellent speed on the bases and always looking to get the extra base when possible.
Overall I just love being part of a team and spending time practicing and/or playing in tournaments together. I consider myself a team player and I am willing to do whatever it takes to help our team win.
I feel this 110% commitment and work ethic has helped me develop into the player I am today.
I started as a freshman on my HS Varsity softball team and went on to help our team win the WIAA Division 1 regional championship game.
So far in my sophomore year (2014) I have been the starting pitcher in virtually every game and put up numbers that rank me in the top five all-time records for our school.
I finished 2nd in the state of Wisconsin for strikeouts with 354 in 176 innings.
Besides playing softball, the past two years I played libero on the HS JV volleyball team and hope to make the Varsity team in 2015.
The game of softball it has been a huge part of my life and none of it would have been possible all of these years without the support of my parents.
When I am not participating in sports, I enjoy going camping with my family, fishing, bicycling, swimming, listening to music and going out to the movies.
My ultimate personal goal would be to attend a college that allows me to pursue an Elementary Education Major and help represent the school by playing softball.
Thank you,
Bella Matthias
