My name is Ashley Hellenbrand and I'm a 5' dedicated softball player. I'm very hardworking when it comes to softball. Softball is my favorite sport and I enjoy the game. My most important accomplishments so far in softball were making Varsity softball my Freshman year, and getting the opportunity to pitch at state. Knowing that I'm capable of playing softball in college makes me strive to be a better athlete and try to better myself each and everyday, even if it's not on the field. I started playing softball at the age of 5 and have continued ever since. When I was 11 I decided to better my softball skills by joining a traveling team to play at a higher level. I played for my hometown traveling team Poynette Fastpitch for 1 year, and decided I wanted to go to an even higher level of softball. At age 12 I played for a traveling team out of Columbus, Wisconsin called Xplozion. I was fortunate enough that I was able to play with both teams to get more playing time during the summer, this continued until I moved up to 16U. When I was 13, I wanted to be more involved in the softball program at my High School, so I asked to be a manager for the Varsity Softball team. It was an amazing experience and I learned so much, which has made me the player I am today. This also helped me know what to expect once I got to the High School level. Once I got to the High School level, my Freshman year, I played for Junior Varsity for half the season and was brought up to play Varsity the rest of the season. Now today at age 16 I decided to play for Wisconsin Firecrackers, which is a National Organization.
When it comes to choosing a school I would like to go to, my options are endless. I'm open to going anywhere. I am very open minded about colleges and hope to find the college that fits me best. School size or location doesn't matter to me, as long as I'm receiving great education, and playing the sport that I love. I would like to further my education in the Engineering or Human Resource field. However, my major may change over the course of the rest of my high school career.
When it comes to softball for me, it's not about winning or losing, it's about playing the hardest I can and leaving my heart out on the field. When I play, I play for myself but also for my team. I push myself to be better then I was the day before, and motivate others to better themselves also. When I commit to a team I know it's my job to always work hard and to never give up. My most important athletic goals are to continue playing the sport that inspires me at a high competition level, and to make an impact on the team, and to younger girls that look up to me. Knowing at the end of the day, that I made a difference and tried my hardest is what keeps me motivated, and that is the most important thing to me.
June 2017 update:
I received 2nd team all conference and Honorable Mention for All District for my Varstiy High School team In Poynette WI..
