Hello my name is Lexy Powell. I am currently attending Harry Ainlay High School in Edmonton, Alberta. I will be graduating in 2021. I live with parents Stacy and Fraser, and my older brother Josh. I was brought up in a safe home with the most important things in my life being family, doing and accomplishing the things I love, and being happy.
I’ve wanted to play basketball in university and potentially professionally since I first started playing at the age of 11. I love the sport to death. It gives me a rush of adrenaline each nice pass, nice basket or nice steal I get. I knew basketball would become my passion. Basketball had shaped who I am as an athlete and as a person and I want my skills to keep progressing and developing as I know they can. I love basketball for more then the adrenaline, but also the competitiveness each athlete needs to bring to the court everyday, helping everyone work together as a team, and then throughout the season turning that team into a family.
My whole life I have been a well rounded athlete. I have always been able to play any sport. Ive always progressed quickly in the things I love. Ever if I wanted to do something I put my mind to it and I achieved it. I not only play basketball at a very high competitive level but I also play competitive volleyball, used to be a swimmer, handball, gymnast, dancer, and more. I have always had a busy schedule, working out three mornings a week with a personal trainer, practicing everyday after school for basketball practice, then volleyball. And once club basketball comes around after school practices twice a week, which has taught me to manage my time both academically and athletically.
I would like to take bachelor of science with a major in animal science. I have wanted to be a veterinarian since I was 8 after my first puppy passed away, knowing I wanted to help animals. I would like to specify in being a marine vet, so working with under water animals. Or becoming a heart transplant doctor for land animals such as dogs, cats, farm animals and more. Academics are just as important to me as athletics. At the moment in the first 2 around months in my first year of high school I’m sitting at an 80 percent average.
