I have been playing the game for 11 years and have LOVED every minute of it. As a Junior at Pinnacle High School in Phoenix, Arizona I am currently on the varsity girls basketball team and you could say basketball is a big part of my life. I have been playing on a club basketball team for 6 of those 11 years. Additionally, I have been a proud team member of my school's girls basketball team since freshman year. Basketball has been my go-to sport since I was little, even when I participated in other sports such as soccer and swim team. None of those sports gave me the feeling I have when I play basketball. I am very competitive by nature, which makes me love basketball because I am able to compete against other players both individually and as a teammate. I am a huge team player and love to be part of both of my school and club teams. My teammates and I consider each other our second family. We all love winning and competing together but also love being part of a basketball family. Many of us have grown up together in the “basketball world” and have enjoyed many of the best experiences life can offer. I look forward to creating new bonds and being part of a new basketball family when I enter college.
I take school very seriously and work diligently to maintain good grades while pushing myself to take a few Honors classes each year I have attended high school. I currently have a 3.9 GPA which I believe demonstrates my pride and hardwork with my academics. I am currently a student mentor at Pinnacle. Being a mentor is an important role to demonstrate both my leadership and my compassion. With this role, it is my job to help guide and support any questions or help that incoming or new students may have. I enjoy working with other classmates who are also mentors. The comradery and problem solving that we share are critical skills to learn. I believe these skills and the help provided by my teachers are helping me be the best student I can be. I am taking coursework that hopefully will allow me to pursue a Pre-Med degree when I go to college.
Outside of basketball and school I do have an active life. I enjoy participating in volunteer events throughout my community. I volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul and other organizations to stay involved with my community. Volunteering is a very heartwarming and growth-oriented experience that I am so happy to be part of. I enjoy traveling and seeing many different cities. Growing up in Arizona, I must admit, has nurtured my love for the beach and enjoying every minute of it when traveling with my family. I come from a tight, close-knit family of 4. We often spend time together with just my Mom, Dad and Sister but we also spend quite a bit of time with our extended family. We enjoy many of our get-togethers, whether it be as simple as a nice relaxing dinner or playing competitive games such as basketball, soccer, volleyball or a good board game. I love that I am close with my family. My sister and I have recently started painting art with our Grandmother; I cherish these times and know we are creating memories for years to come. You could say I love animals as we have 2 dogs, a bearded dragon and a hamster, which I help take care of. I just love being around them and would adopt every stray if my parents would let me. Sometimes just a cuddle with a dog is what you need. I am really looking forward to my family getting a new Weimaraner puppy and can’t wait to give him cuddles and help my parents with training him. I love all of the close relationships that I have with my friends. Yes, with many of them our LOVE for basketball has sealed our bond as friends and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
