Personal Statement

My name is Mariah Lora, a 5'5 Senior point guard, attending Warren High School. As a four year varsity player, I have maintained a cumulative 4.0 GPA. I am a resilient competetor who is determined to excel academically and athletically. As captain of my high school basketball team and current school president, I get to lead both on and off the court. This has shaped me into a strong leader. I have learned to balance my schedule with my varsity sport, travel ball teams, AP classes, and ASB. But it is my effort, drive, and work ethic that sets me apart from my peers.

Since I was 10, I've played as point guard and often matched up with the opponent's key players. I am known for my aggressive lock down defense on the ball, along with my help defense. Competing in different levels (such as a league with majority of boys,  my middle school team, & AAU) I've developed the ability to control the tempo of the game and have great court vision. Also, I strongly believe that a good attitude is essential to a team's success. Good attitudes are contagious and it makes a fun atmosphere. As a leader on my team, I have learned to get the best out of my teammates through my consistent encouragement, positive attitude,  and leading by action.

Due to my dedication, passion, and commitment, I have significantly grown on the court and in the classroom.  I am a well rounded student-athlete who likes to take on challenges. I tackle any and all obstacles in my way. My goal is to attend a university with strong academics, and a competitive basketball program where I can make a positive impact.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
