My name is Alyssa Harden, and I attend Gilroy High School in Gilroy California. I have participated in basketball for the past 7 years and if I get the opportunity, I hope to continue playing in college. I have been on my high school varsity basketball team since my freshman year. I have also participated in varsity volleyball since freshman year and joined the track team my sophomore year, running in the 1600 and 800. My sophomore year of high school, I received the great honor of getting Sophomore Athlete of the Year. Sports have made a major impact on my life. Being an athlete has taught me how to have confidence and how to manage my busy school and sports schedule. It has also helped me to get involved in the Sports Medicine program at my school and participate in volunteer work for Gilroy/Morgan Hill NJB (National Junior Basketball). Community service has made an impact on my life and sports has given me more choices on how to help out in my community. In my future I would like to travel and help those in need in different countries. In college I want to study International Business or study on how to become an athletic trainer. I also hope to study abroad and get the opportunity to see different parts of the world. Since a young age my coaches have told me, "Never be afraid to be great." I hope to get the opportunity to continue my basketball career in college and bring my confidence that I have been taught to have throughout the years. I promise as an athlete to also work hard, hustle, and give it my all. Thank you.
