Deja Duke '14 Recruiting Profile

     Hello My name is Deja Duke.  I am currently a senior at Ocean View High School. I have played basketball my entire life, well since I was 5.  This is my fourth straight year on the varsity team, and I have started since my Sophomore year.  The number one goal I have, is to graduate college.  College has been talked about my entire life, and I can't wait to experience it. Another  one of my goals is to play college basketball. There are several reasons why I believe I will make a good fit for many teams.  First, I am a team player.  The team comes first, always. Second I have the experience. As I stated earlier I have played my whole life, and I have four years at the varsity level.  Lastly, I feel I am a leader, especially on the court.  I like to lead by example, but I am not afraid to pull a teammate aside a let them know if they are distraction to the team.   I feel like I separate myself from other recruits because of my will to win.  I hate to lose.  I bring that type of attitude to the court, and it seems to effect my teammates in a positive way.  Also I have the experience, not many women can say they were on varsity all four years.  One trait I get complimented on is my court vision.  I feel like I know where my teammates are at all times.  I get more joy from a beautiful assist to one of my teammates rather than sinking one of my many three pointers.

     As for academics, I am very excited!  College academics will truly challenge me, and I look forward to it.  I like a challenge, so bring on college, I AM READY!!!
