Greetings Coach: Hope you and your Family are all doing well as we endure this terrible COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic and the current unrest in our nation.
I begin my statement by saying I am a Latina student-athlete that lives in a household where basketball is treated like a religion and teachesgreat life values as well. It has taught me discipline, loyalty, and how to overcome challenges. At home we breathe, speak, and play basketball to the fullest. It has been my lifelong dream to play at the highest college level, and at this point, there’s no doubt in my mind that I have performed well enough to now play at any NCAA or NAIA level. I wish to major in Criminal Justice and/or Psychology.
My best player skill is that I am a solid and consistent 3-point shot specialist with a 38.7 % success rate. A second strong skill is my high basketball IQ. This allows me to clearly see the floor on offense, make good shooting decisions, pass to my open teammates wherever they are on the court, and position myself for both offensive and defensive rebounds. At all times, I believe that by strictly following my Head Coach’s directions, and by using my game instincts, that this allows me to separate myself from much of my competition.
My AAU accomplishments include a 2013 National Championship in the “AAU/USA Juniors Division,” All-Tourney in the 2013 AAU “End of the Oregon Trail” Tournament, Champions of the 2015 AAU/USA “Jam On It” Tournament. In all competitions, I played for several well-known programs and Coaches. That period was followed by my high school career where I played on a great high school team. To my fortunate advantage, as a Bi-national student-athlete, I was selected to play for the El Salvador Girls U-16 National team during competition in Los Angeles, El Salvador, and Guatemala. I remain in contact with my coach, Ray Santana.
In closing, I am confident I will be a very valuable student/athlete asset to a college or university that provides me with an opportunity to enroll and compete for them on a full scholarship.
