My name is Gielle Holubiczko also known as "G". I am in the graduating class of 2023. I attend Wilcox High School in Santa Clara, California. I am a 5'6 power forward. I started to find the love that I have for basketball in third grade when I started playing for my school team. Once I picked up that basketball I felt all of my problems go away. I used to get bullied because of my weight in elementary school because I was a very chubby girl, basketball really helped me with that though. Ever since then basketball has been apart of my DNA. In my 8th-grade year my friends and I decided to sign up for a basketball tournament throughout our school. We ended up being the only girl's team in the tournament and we won. We mainly did it to show that girls are just as good as sports as all of the guys, but we also did it because it was our last time playing the sport we all love together before we go our separate ways into highschool. At this moment, I am very strong in the power forward/post area. I am starting to become more accurate with my shots outside of the key and learning to perfect that. The strength and the ability that I have to stay on my feet make for me to be a very successful defender. At the end of my freshman the league named me as the Second Team, All-SCVAL. I do take a lot of pride in the game that I play but as soon as the game is over I know it is really not over. I say this in the matter that there is always room to improve and learn new skills each day. There is no off-season in my book. I am also involved in volleyball and soccer. I do realize that to be able to keep up on playing the sports that I love I do have to maintain my work in and out of school. This last semester I worked for a GPA of 4.0. I am very dedicated to keeping up my hard work to get to the places that I would like to go in my lifetime. I absolutely enjoy being apart of a team not to just improve the level of my game, but also having others push me to play my best and myself pushing others as well. I genuinely love the game of basketball, even if I am on the couch just watching a game I love to recognize new things that I am eager to try next. Being able to build a future through the game I love would be unreal. I look forward to all the hard work and becoming the best player I can possibly be. I was awarded MVP this year, and I hope that that is just the beginning of my future.
