I see myself as a student then an athlete. I have a 3.8 GPA and I take my grades seriously. I don’t give up points in class or on the court. I chose to transfer halfway through my junior year (even though I risked losing eligibility for the rest of the season) because my previous school discouraged athletes from taking advanced and honors classes. This forced me to adapt to a new coach and a new team (halfway through the season!), a skill I know I’ll need as I transition to the next level.
I feel that my role on and off the court will be a positive impact. I love learning and growing from others. I like hearing criticism so I can work on myself, and I hope that I never stop learning, especially from attending and playing at your program. Being the best is not good enough and I’m always looking to raise the standard.
I mostly play point guard but I can be a combo guard as well. While some players specialize in offense, I have a love for defense. I enjoy forcing turnovers, icing the shooter, and being a great ball thief. My specialties on offense are court vision, hitting the cutter, directing the play, and dropping dimes.
My freshman year, I led my team to win the first California Interscholastic Federation championship in girls basketball in school history. I was honored as the player of the year. My sophomore year, after being moved up 2 divisions, I led my team to win the second championship in school history. We also shared the league title. This title was also a first for the school in girls basketball. That spring, I was selected to try out for the USA Basketball U17 team. Meeting and playing with elite players from around the nation was an experience I will never forget. That summer, I traveled to Switzerland with a different national team to compete in an international camp, where USA won 7-0. I also qualified for the 3-point contest and the dribbling contest. This past year, after transferring, I took more supportive role and helped my team to the semifinals of our CIF division and the second round of the State tournament. I look forward to helping my team win our (CIF) division and State this year!
I hope to hear from you or see you on the road soon!
