Hi my name is Abby Leahy and I play basketball at Sand Creek High School and for wreaking havoc. I am a 6'0 lengthy guard that has a high defense IQ, can ball handle, shoot from the arch, and more. In basketball, I am always trying to push myself to become a better player whether that's ball handling, looking at videos of new moves to apply to my game, going for a run, shooting, etc. One thing about me is that I am self-driven. I go to the gym almost everyday to work on getting better, and the days I don't, I ball handle and look up videos on how to create space between the defender and I, moves to do against defenders, new passes, drills to work on, or watch women's basketball games. My goal in college basketball is to be the best player I can become as well as helping my teammates do the same. As a pretty outgoing person, I communicate pretty well on the floor, compliment and cheer on my teammates, and give high fives. I am also pretty competitive and I have learned to use my teammates to get me better and vise versa. Over the years, I have had many coaches and I like to take the pieces they have taught me and apply them to my game. As far as academics go, I maintain a 4.0 gpa, I have been invited to be part of a student council class for freshman, and I have been nominated for the Congress of Future Medical Leaders Award of Excellence at Harvard. In college, I want to study neuropsychology and grow my knowledge further in the medical field. I am reliable, I time manage well and I always put my academics before basketball. I want to find a college that is best fit for me spiritually, athletically, and academically. Above all I have said, I want to serve others and make a positive impact on the college I go to.
