My goal in college is to build my character and experience. Basketball has been a lifelong love of mine and is a part of my family history. I've been playing since I was 8, and my uncle was a professional basketball player overseas. I love bettering my skills and knowledge about the game. I always play on the hoop in my driveway, and you can always catch me watching the latest Nuggets or Kansas baseball games after practice.
I'm proud to say I made the Varsity basketball team as a sophomore and got decent playing time. In the game of basketball, the one thing that will stand out above all others, in my opinion, is hustle. I do my best to hustle every game, whether that be running the floor, fighting for an offensive rebound, or diving for a loose ball and getting deflections. Many people enjoy the offensive side of basketball, and the value of that cannot be demoted. However, I find great enjoyment in the defensive side of the game. I love getting a good block, and knowing that the person you are guarding doesn't want to shoot against you is a great feeling. Rebounding is also something that I take pride in. I always search for an offensive rebound, and even a simple defensive rebound gives you a great sense of accomplishment.
We are student-athletes, and success in the classroom is very important. Even while being a 2-sport athlete, I get my work done in time while balancing multiple AP and dual enrollment courses. I made the National Honor Society this year, and I plan to put full effort into the program and serve my community as much as possible.
