Sekai Hicks '20 Recruiting Profile

My dream university to attend is Howard University. I want to major in Biology to pursue a medical career and French to continue learning the language. The basketball court is home for me. When I’m playing I feel all the love and passion I have for this sport pouring out onto the court. I was never the player who had the best handles or jump shot, but it was my determination that pushed myself to be better than the person I was when I first walked into the gym. I started on the varsity basketball team for two years in a row, 2017-2018 MVP, and 2017-2018 team captain. Being captain showed me responsibility and leadership. Aiding my coaches during practices and leading the team to wins showed me the importance of my role on the court. 

My accomplishments outside of athletics include being an Eagle Ambassador which is someone whom assists new students on campus, goes on panels to give more information about the school, and leads tours for future parents. I am currently the vice president of a diversity club at my school and we discuss the importance of inclusion and making everyone feel welcomed.
