My whole life I've felt like I had something to prove. I didn't necessarily have anyone to prove it to but myself. All throughout my life I've always been determined to do the best of my abilities. Since I was young, I wanted to be a doctor. However being a child my mind has constantly gone back and forth as to which type of doctor. I'd changed my mind about nearly every type until 8th grade when one of my closest friends tore her acl. Naturally, I was devastated and my curious mind drove myself to watch an acl reconstructive surgery online. This was not what permanently changed my mind as to what I wanted to be when i got older. No, it was what she went through afterwards, constantly going to physical therapy. She dreaded it but she got better, stronger and that was what made me what to be a physical therapist. The way they are able to help someone (try) and return to a normal lifestyle or return to what they love (sports) was and still is truly inspirational. So because of this dream of mine I would love to go to college to major in biology.
I believe I would be a good candidate to be on _________'s women's basketball team because I have a drive inside of me that's determined to be accomplished. I've gone through adversity many times through my life, however, I believe the one that has changed me the most was transferring to a new school my sophomore year. I had to prove myself to a whole new crowd, start from the bottom and work my way up. I was and still am serious about proving to everyone that I was on the team for more than just the reason that I was a "coach's daughter". In that way, I felt like I had to work twice as hard. I refused to have something just handed to me. And so I worked. On and off the court. I went from being just "Coach Cole's" daughter to being the new girl who was the sixth man (sometimes starter) of a team that made it to the sweet sixteen while also managing to be top 30 in her class. I think that's what makes me different. So many times I could have quit, but I didn't. I hope to find a college that will fit me in regards to both academics and basketball.
