I AM A FEROCIOUS ASSAILANT OF THE CYLINDER who averages near double digit free-throw attempts almost every game (200 attempts in 2016-17 high school season , 240 attempts in 2017-18 and 232 attempts in 2018-19)! My name is Christina Walker. I'm a 5'7" shooting guard from Stockbridge, Georgia. For me, basketball is a pathway to do so much more in my life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1C6YSJIpBk It's been a passion of mine for almost 9 years now. My Dad who was a two sport athlete in college (football and basketball), taught me the game and the importance of basic fundamentals at an early age. In fact, he has coached me at the Recreation, Middle School, and AAU levels. Through the years we have shared several championship moments together. Every time I hit a court, I'm ready to work my hardest and compete to win. I'm a very supportive teammate and opponent. Even if I don't have the best game, I'm glad to see when my teamates are improving and doing better. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKuZIAEjwNk Also, I'm sure to always be respectful to my opponents, coaches, and the referees of each game. I know that there may always be players stronger than me in certain areas of the game. That just motivates me to work harder to get better to be the best all around player I can be. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74rEve2gUTE I know that by doing this, through basketball, I can do just about anything. One of those things is definitely getting a college education and playing basketball at the collegiate level. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcUe0PnOJk0 I know and understand that playing basketball requires work, time, and commitment; all of which I'm ready to give.
Not only is basketball a strength for me, but academics are too. I've been a straight A student for all my life. I've received award after award for my humanity, leadership, academic achievements, and athletic achievements. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wux7A3t8hMY I've also been recognized by President Barrack Obama for my outstanding academic performance. Education really entices me and I love every bit of what I learn.
Because of this passion for education, college is a big must for me. I would like to major in the field of Psychology, partly because I have a little brother named Jacob who is 9 years younger than me and has autism. He truly inspires me, not to mention he's also in a basketball movie that was released in April 2018 entitled "The Amateur" .Jake is the first person that appears on the screen when the movie comes on! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTCSlVVvk70
Since I love learning so much, going to college to learn about something I have a passion for, while participating in a sport that I love, would be a dream come true.
