Being named the first Female to make the G I S A All-State Football team as a Sophomore was one of the highlights of my career. I received a huge following on my social media due to me being a Female succeeding in a male sport. I also made the cover of In the Game magazine. This milestone in my life was made possible because of the countless efforts my team made to get me within distance. I had the privilege of playing in two State Championship games. One in Football and the other in Basketball. I was recently asked if I would trade the fame for the victory. My answer was an astounding yes. I would trade the fame for the trophy. My team was and always will be more important than any recognition I have received. I often reflect on my favorite quote “A head full of fears has no place for dreams”. Overcoming my fears of being different and trusting that God would never lead me down a path I couldn’t travel was a stepping stone in my life and career. Stepping out on faith and playing football has given me a platform that I am proud to support and allowed me to be a positive role model for other young girls. Be Different, it’s OK to stand out in a crowd or in my case a team. I was recently named Female Athlete of the year for Georgia. Don’t be afraid of failure sometimes hard work pays off.
I was fortunate to be apart of an amazing program, winning 2nd in State in Basketball and Football. I learned the value of teamwork, commitment, sacrifice and leadership during my basketball team’s road to the finals. We were a team with a 10-10 record playing against a team with a 27-2 record. We were the team overlooked every game. Each time those teams paid the price with our victory. We were not the team that quit we faced each opponent together and never backed down. As the point guard I lead my team to the championship game. As a three-sport athlete I believe I have the determination and talent to play at the college level. I am looking for the right college athletically and academically. I await the opportunity to fulfill my dreams of working with marine life and making the oceans a better place.
