Personal Statement

My name is Shena Fleming, I am a 10th grader at La Lumiere School. I have been playing basketball since I was in the 4th grade. During my 6th grade year I was playing with 7th and 8th graders, and also started playing AAU. From a very young age, I knew that I wanted to play at the college level no matter if it was D1, D2, D3, or NAIA. I have always taken school very seriously, my grades have always been my top priority. I want to find a college that is best for me athletically and academically.

The Elite Experience Minneapolis 2022 Fleming is bursting with athleticism and was one of the most natural athletes seen the entire event. She has smooth ball handling skills that make it seem like she has the ball on a string. She also has a smooth shooting stroke and combining that with her handles helped her create space to get off her shot with ease all event long. She also had no hesitation to attack off the bounce and get two feet inside the paint. Her area of opportunity would be to continue to work on finishing through contact. At times she appeared to be disrupted if defenders bodied her up on her shot or around the rim. She has all the physical abilities to be able to develop into a strong finisher through contact.

Team 3 Shena Fleming / 2024 / 5'9 / CG / Marquette Catholic Shena jumped out with her length, athleticism and ability to create her own opportunities, while looking comfortable in the up and down flow of the pick-up games. She still needs to polish her ability to consistently finish but added strength to her wiry frame will go a long way with that. Overall, she showed a good motor on both ends of the floor, was comfortable with the ball in open space, was able to create and went and got boards. Defensively, she showed a lot of versatility with her physical tools, a young prospect to keep an eye on as she develops.

Shena Fleming , 2024, La Lumiere – Shena just has the look of a ballplayer. She has a long, wiry-strong frame, and she is a fluid athlete who moves around almost effortlessly. She looked to drive it more than anything, but she did hit the occasional jumper.

Shena Fleming , 2024, 5-8 SF, La Lumiere Preparatory – Shena is a long, wiry-strong, and athletic wing prospect. She moves well in most directions, and she’s somewhat bouncy as well. She is probably still most comfortable as a playmaker off the bounce, but she does a solid job of scoring it via the pull-up or finishing at the rim, plus she is a willing passer who can find open teammates when attacking. She transferred in from Marquette this year.
