Personal Statement
Hello coaches, I am Shayla King, a right-handed, 5'7 guard. Born in Georgia but stationed in Germany I've played and learned a lot about basketball overseas and in the States but my goal has always stayed the same, Play college basketball, make an impact on everyone around me, and accomplish all my goals. Basketball has allowed me to grow, and learn more about who I am and who I want to be. I strive to work and to be better than who I was the day before. I love to uplift my teammates when they are down and encourage them when they feel discouraged. Outside of basketball, I love to travel. Being here in Germany I can travel all around Europe, visit Paris in 2 hours, learn new cultures and languages, and experience new things I wouldn't have done early on in my life. Basketball has been my outlet, a place where I can let emotions out or keep emotions in, it's been my stress reliever and sometimes my stressor. Other then basketball I love my family, my mom has always lifted my head up, my stepdad has always prepared me for the worst and the best while my siblings cheer me on and uplift my spirit. I wouldn't be the player, daughter, and sister I am without them.
