Personal Statement
I have drive and will work hard in everything I do. I am coachable and listen to what is told to me. I am able to correct mistakes that are seen on the court and I am able to get along with everyone. I have been starting point guard on varsity for four years and my Sophomore year, I was chosen as head captain. While living in Alaska, I played three years for Interior Youth Basketball, which is the AAU team for the state. My team and I played in many tournaments around the lower 48 states. We placed 12th out of 48 teams in the Jam On It National Memorial Day Tournament in Reno, Nevada. We also played in the Northwest Regional Tournament in Seattle, Washington and took the championship for the whole Northwest Region of the U.S and Canada. While in middle school I was invited to many high school varsity camps and practices. I also attended a camp at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and was noticed by the head coach, Cody Burgess, of the Lady Nanooks. I plan to work hard and do whatever I can to pursue the goal that I have in mind which is to play college basketball. Although I play sports, I always put education first. I am a student before I am an athlete. I plan to major in psychology. I take school seriously and I know that each grade is another step to my future. I believe that I would make a good candidate to a team because I am strong on and off the court. I also know how to balance my school work and sports.
